10. And they went with steroids instead of Non Steroidal anti inflammatory?
Watch out for frozen shoulder. It's very common in women and can happen on its on or after a shoulder injury.

It starts out like you think you have tendonitis, then it gets increasingly difficult to move your arm, especially the reach back to clasp bra manuever. it's unbelievably painful, I had it in both shoulders two years apart.

11. I have been on OTC NSAIDs for about 6 weeks
So yeah, they brought out the big guns...

I am getting PT to head off the frozen shoulder. My mom has the frozen shoulder...don't want to go there.

13. It's very common for women in the same family to get it
My Mom had it and my sister had it. They both worked it out with PT but I was SO frozen I had surgery. There's a theory that it's an autoimmune disorder, like if you injure your shoulder your shoulder rejects the damaged tissue, or something like that.

GOOD LUCK!

16. We must be twins then
I always gain weight and snap at my husband and then my face gets all round. Then I go on the south beach diet, lose most of the weight and then end up on steroids again. Rinse, repeat.
I crave fried chicken and chocholate usually but sometimes have cravings for the weirdest things.
Good luck!

Seriously, I'm sorry. I hope you're able to sleep on your course of steroids. That was the worst 3 weeks of my life. I slept about 1-2 hours each night and I was delirious with sleep deprivation.

Are they going to give you cortisone injections?

22. Works great for some people, terrible for others.
I used to work in a PT office. It seems to me (from my terribly non-clinical perspective) that people who have long-term degenerative issues don't respond well to the cortisone, whereas people who have an acute issue as a result of trauma respond very well.

23. HMMM, that is interesting
I once had an intraarticular cortisone injection in my left hip (the one that eventually got replaced) and it did bupkiss for the pain. You are probably on to something there.

and this will be short term.

you might try some topical heat generating liniment...preferably one with capiscum and salycilic acid in it. helped my sore shoulder immensely

Although, I am going to go through the roidy mood swings for the next couple of weeks.
