Job interview question.
I have an opportunity to interview for a job (job B). I already have one interview lined up for next week - for a job (job A) that I actually want. This new opportunity is a job (job B) that I don't really want. I've interviewed with them before, and I can say that I doubt I'd want this job any more than the last few - I've honestly used them for interview practice. Job B pays extremely well - better than job A will by almost $10k, but I think I'd hate job B. Hate it, hate it, hate it.

Would you just not set up the interview?

Interview B would take place after interview A.

1. If you were offered Job B,
what are the advantages besides more $$?
This is how I would look at it:
How long would I stay, especially if I hated it?
Could I do a good job and get a good recommendatio from them, even if I hated it?
Would I get some experience I could use to get a job I liked or really wanted?

Remember, the average employer is not loyal to the employee, so it is not as though you really have to think that you will stay there forever.

If I got an offer from Job B, but not Job A, would it be an advantage when applying for another job after you've been there for a reasonable period?

If you didn't like Job B, would you do something foolish that would haunt you in the future--like telling people to screw off or take excessive "mental health" days?

2. I've turned down an offer for a job that paid $15k better
but that I knew I'd hate. No amount of money will make you happy if you're miserable at work every day.

I wouldn't even bother scheduling an interview.

If Job A doesn't work for you, perhaps Job B does - then you can work. AND, you can continue to interview at Jobs C, D, E, F, G... until you get the one you want. Since the business rules have changed, and their is no loyalty on the part of employers to keep employees, there's no need for loyalty on the part of the employee, either. I'd have no compunction quitting a job for a better after a few weeks. Fuck the company.

Getting the ideal job is the goal, but that's no reason to take the shitty ones in between.

Income is good.

Of course, if you're already working, you can be more choosy and say "no" to interviews at places you don't want to work.
