1. Not for flea products.
They've killed an awful lot of animals with their Blockade and their flea collars are 10 times as strong as they need to be...resulting in hair loss, skin lesions and sick animals.

Use Frontline. Or Advantage. Stay away from Hartz.

3. Interesting
thanks - A person I know may be getting a job offer from them. I know the company name, but don't know much about them.

11. As you can see, Hartz is not a very trusted company.
But more than just their products are bad...their ethics are the pits.

When Blockade was killing so many animals, they pulled it off the shelves for a while. Saying that it was going to be reformulated. But they changed nothing about the product itself. They just rewrote the instructions for using it.

2. I've read a few horror stories of those necklaces killing cats in this very lounge
I'd recommend the frontline drops, they're outstanding. Pricey, but worth it.

4. Like a complete idiot, I used their 'equivalent' to Advantage/Frontine -
was out of Frontline, fleas were doing cartwheels on the cats, and I figured it'd do in a pinch over the weekend. One cat ended up with a bald spot where I put the crap (still has it to this day - a dime-sized divot), and another one went into convulsions and had to be rushed to the emergency clinic. She ended up being fine, but I complained to the company in writing and sent them the emergency bill; they paid my expenses (of course in exchange for me not pursuing the issue; and as my cat was fine, that was OK with me, though I warn anyone I see in the pet aisle away from the product).

Anyway. They responded well, and have a reputation of doing so (my sister is a veterinarian) but their products are NOT GOOD. The flea medicine is a freaking pesticide; not exactly the sort of thing you'd want to slather on the skin of a living creature you want to stay living.

5. NO!!!!! If you're looking for a flea product, go with one of those the vets sell
(some of which you can still get cheaper at pet supply stores, farm stores, etc). Or Biospot. Much cheaper than the prescriptions, but a good reputation.

Hartz has had a ton of lawsuits for killing pets with their flea products.

12. Frontline is the best. It's expensive, but much more effective than Biospot.

13. I use Frontline now, after my dog had fleas last summer while on Advantix.
Frontline is safer in a household with cats. The formula is the same for cats and dogs, whereas Advantage's canine formula contains a chemical that is highly toxic to cats. My dog and one of my cats are best buds--they play together, sleep together, groom each other. I can't be treating my dog with something toxic to cats.

9. I had a cat suffer a grand mal seizure from one of their flea collars...

One of the cheap ones that looks like it was laced with powdered sugar. Don't use it!
