How long in inches is a US dollar bill?

We can't find the damned ruler, and we want to know how much snow we have already, so we stuck a knife in the snow and put it next to the dollar -- it's a little bit longer than the bill.

WORK didn't close today, but I can't get out of the driveway, our road is a sheet of "plowed" icy snow,and accidents are all over the roads I have to drive on (per the receptionist at work).

2. A dollar bill is a little over 6 inches.

I had to take one out of my wallet and measure it, to be sure.
