GAITHERSBURG, Md. -- There are about 30 vehicles involved in a pileup crash in Gaithersburg.

Authorities said the incident happened at about 7:30 a.m. on the southbound ramp from Interstate 270 to Interstate 370.

There are several serious injuries

about 20 years ago. Is it all built up now? That was just starting in the late '80s.

is HUGH!! You wouldn't recognize it. That on ramp is from the highway that connects the local subway stop to 270 which is at that point 12 LANES wide. 270 is the biggest interstate outside of California, I believe.

OMG, I don't think it was that ginormous when I lived there. I remember the town as having a lot of open land that had previously been farmland but that was being developed into apartment and condo complexes, as far as the eye could see.

5. Our office had liberal leave policy today and I wasn't going to go in

but when I checked my e-mail, there was a minor disaster in the making, so I trekked into DC. Metro was its usual wonderful self during any weather that involves a temp of less than 55 degrees and some sort of precipitation. What I had to laugh at is that the office is pretty empty today - the ACS (aka secretarial and support staff) came in and most of the lawyers and paralegals stayed home. There is only one other legal assistant in today besides me out of 12. Oh well - brownie points.
