My mid-century home would look so cute with this traditional style So Cal statuary
planter in the front yard.
The gentleman will be standing next to the donkey planter which will be holding succulents and cacti.

2. I would err on the side of caution there... and maybe just go with the burro

To me, 'human' figures should only be used if they are religious/mythological symbols (St. Francis, the Virgin Mary, angels, gnomes, etc...), or reproductions of classic art (saw a nice Venus deMilo once)... otherwise, even though that's not what you intended, it may appear to be stereotyping.

3. He looks like my uncle.
I'm not offended by it, but I could see how some people might be.

4. I love old style lawn ornaments
but I would no sooner put the barefoot Latino on my lawn than I would a black jockey statue. They weren't positive images at the time and they're not likely to be seen as inoffensive now.

5. Thanks...that is what I thought...
I was trying to relive a memory from a yard in my neighborhood
as a youngster.

Times and I have changed...I know I don't really want to do anything
that would even slightly be deemed offensive...

I love the donkey and I believe I will instead put a Wagon Wheel somewhere near-by.
