Do you ever hold your pets to the point of physical discomfort?
We have a tiny chiuaua. He loves to sit in my lap while I'm on the computer, but since I lean back in the chair, it's more like he's sitting on my chest. I have to hold him up with my left arm or he slips off. He sleeps so cozy, I hate to disturb him. My arm was actually going numb, but I hated to move him. It's not like there aren't 100 more cozy spots for him to sleep in.

Why do we love our pets so much? :loveya:

1. A cat is sleeping on my right arm at this moment.
So I'm typing awkwardly with my left hand. But I don't want to disturb the cat.

2. Oh, I'm relieved that it is the human who is experiencing discomfort, and not the pet!
You bet! One of my corgis always rests her head on my foot when I'm using the computer..... of course, I can't move my foot!

Common phrase when we are watching TV.
Our little girl likes to curl up in my robe and fall asleep

That pup is a little cutie.

9. We have something similar
when someone wants the person with the dog to do something it's always "I'm sorry, I can't get up right now, I have a sleeping puppy." :D

6. If my dog is sleeping on my bed, I sleep on the couch.
He alternates between the couches and the bed. But he will not tolerate sharing a bed, because he does not like someone moving around. So when I go to bed and if he is already in it, I sleep on the couch.

I got in a heap of trouble on another board with some people calling me insane because I take my dog to client meetings. Of course I check first, and if they say Ok, then I do.

I miss being able to hold him and pick him up like when he was small, but him being a Bull Mastiff, it's not that easy as I tried one day kidding around.

He always gets the best spots on the couches, and I sit other places, and the bed thing is no big deal as the big couch is very comfy.

I never thought that I would become so attached to a dog. He's my first since high school, and I love him more than anything. Here he is in various sleeping poses...

10. ROFL!
That's a riot. Your dog is a cutie; I can see why you wouldn't want to disturb him. I usually have a seven pound cat sleeping in the middle of my bed, but I can easily pick her up and move her. A cat in the lap is another matter altogether. They sleep, I look for something to read.

7. I struggle for the center of the bed all night
She hasn't yet realized she is only allowed in the middle to warm up the bed for me. Then pick a side. She'll never learn.. it's been years

11. My 18 lb cat and DU
Here he is sitting on my lap at the computer desk.

Here is the table next to the computer where he goes when my arm is numb and I'm tired of him having his paw on the mouse.

On the other hand, here is Nixon, the Lab, on his own bed (formerly inhabited by my youngest son)

20. Chaucer does that. He also head butts me under chin REALLY hard.
I wake up with the cat purring with his nose in my ear. That does make me me nuts. There are usually a couple of times a week that I wake up to the cat nose to nose with me or else purring in my ear.

One of his other favorite tricks is to stand on my chest and head butt my chin just as hard as he can. I wonder sometimes if he hurts his head doing it--because he HAS hurt my chin a few times.

They are an amazing gift, I think.

My Pru is a lap dog. She loves to sleep on my chest while I'm TRYING to post on DU. And when I move her she gives me this look like YOU BITCH (Don't you love the irony of a female dog calling someone that?)! I can't believe you are disturbing me. And she likes to keep me from looking at the screen as often as possible. See?

19. I have three dogs
ranging in size from 65 to 100 pounds. I go to work a lot of days with a
kink in my neck or a sore back from sleeping in a position a master yogi
would avoid - all because the dogs were sleeping so peacefully I didn't have
the heart to wake them up to shift them. Well, that and the fear that if I
did wake them up to shift them that they'd decide it was PLAYTIME and I'd be
awake for the next three hours.
