The Worn Out and the Regressive: a soap opera
okay loungers, here's a group project... a form of "exquisite corpse." (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Exquisite_corpse)

Your job, should you choose to accept it, is to create a soap opera based upon Republican current and past history... as a satire. It doesn't have to be in script format at this time - creativity is the goal on the first pass, not editorial issues.

You can invent characters, or create characters that play off existing ones. You can (and should) create a plot thread using one existing character that's not your own. Here are some characters to start off, if you want to use them-

The Shark- a creepy, leather-jacket wearing Fonzie character whose views are so regressive he is ridiculous. He constantly rages against gays because he is, of course, closeted himself. When he's speaking and standing he always has a wide stance. He's religious. He has a helmet-haired "beard" and a daughter in "re-education" camp for homosexuals... sort of like the scenes of McDowell in Clockwork Orange.

Annabelle Brush Robbiwell - The Shark's mother - a cross between Tammy Faye (rest in peace) and Martha Mitchell, who made drunken rants in the middle of the night and tells things she shouldn't have.

Herman Bumstead- he has a monkey on his back, literally. He rides a segway up and down the halls of the White House where is daddy resides as prez. He's a middle-aged adolescent and a gilded-age capitalist who rages against any attempts at social engineering, as he sees it, because America's greatness is in its self-made captains of industry. He claims to be hard of hearing so that he can wear an earphone to listen in on other's conversations. His oldest son is like a clone. He's installed an oil well on the White House lawn and constantly entertains a string of crooks and...House of Saud-ish potentates.

...I don't really mean to set this in the west wing... so who can help me out here?
