I just watched a film called "Sophie Scholl, The Final Days" that went into the White Rose printing anti-Nazi pamphlets in Munich, and the trial that came after they were discovered.

I have the deepest admiration and respect for people who could be so courageous to do the right thing in such dangerous times.

If you haven't heard of her, it is definately a story worth looking into. Great film to put in your Netflix queue.

1. Sophie Scholl and her brother Hans are true heroes
and their story resonates to this day.

3. It sure does.
Such a shame that stories such as hers and the White Rose aren't well known. Klaus Von Stauffenberg was another.

I also admire Viktor Frankl.

2. I saw that movie.
It's one of my favorites. I read that last night on Wikipedia about the anniversary of her execution. She was a hero (as well as the rest of the members of the White Rose).

4. Yes, the whole White Rose.
They put themselves at such risk, sadly, most of them lost their lives, but thankfully, some survived to tell the tale.

5. that is an excellent movie
as a young activist she is an especially inspiring figure for me.

how unfortunate, though, is it that some of the most important peace activists that have lived have been killed?

7. This is weird
I literally just learned about her and her brother for my Holocaust class. I was really struck by their bravery.

8. A good coincidence!
I was watching video on Youtube of the actual judge portrayed in the movie, and he was portrayed well. He was an absolute ass, who figured if he could be louder, that meant he won the argument.

9. Memories of the White Rose by George J. Wittenstein, M. D.
... We were students, and students, throughout history, have been idealistic, rebellious, and willing to take chances ... Most of us were medical students, except for Sophie Scholl, who majored in biology and philosophy ... In this student company I introduced Alex Schmorell and Hans Scholl to each other ...

13. I saw that a few months ago
Actually, it was only the last half. I didn't really know what it was when I started watching it. It really hooked me in and I was in tears at the end.

Highly recommended, I agree.
