I won an Academy Award in 2005 for best costume design. I was nervous and excited. They sat me next to Kathy Bates. What a delight she was!! Her seat filler, a woman named Jill, had some of the worst breath I've ever encountered. John Travolta & Meg Ryan announced my category. I was so in shock, it took me a moment to get up. My husband punched me in the arm & I sprung in to motion. I ran up the aisle in my 4 inch heels. As I was climbing the stairs, I wobbled a little bit. John Travolta actually walked down to get me. What a doll! So I got up to the microphone and all I could think of to say was: HOLY SHIT!
