Mrs Robeson is getting a new car. She's had her Honda Civic for...
...15 years. Alas, she's having to admit it's about over. We're going to pick up her new "FIT" tomorrow. It actually has more room inside than my SUV. She's excited....

Congrats! I love mine (black sport AT). First new car I've had in 15 years.

Fantastic ride.

2. Cool! Now I'm super charged!.....
...she wanted the orange one - actually it's copper - and we only found one in all the dealerships here. We've got it now! We're pumped! :bounce:

3. You are going to love, love, love it.
I'm just batty about mine. We lucked out with finding a black AT here. My SO test drove a silver one at another dealership out of town. They told her that black was hard to get and so we just assumed that our local dealership didn't have one -- They had one!

I'm finding though that black is really hard to keep clean. I've become quite anal about it LOL -- and the interior catches hair and dander very easily. But it feels so TIGHT! I've never had a sports car before. I'm just completely in lurve. :D

4. I've been thinking about buying a subcompact car
I've looked pretty closely at Chevy's hatchback Aveo and I've driven one. I like the car, but I've learned that it only gets 23 mpg in the city and 33 mpg on the highway. I expect better than that from a subcompact and good gas mileage is the only reason why I would buy a car like that. What kind of mileage does the Fit get?

5. I've done a lot of research on it, Droopy....
...it can get up to 38 MPG on the highway. Of course, it also is going to have the reliability that Honda's are known for.

9. I'm getting about 32 right now
Edited on Sun Feb-24-08 11:17 PM by libnnc
but I'm a little heavy on the pedal still. I'm not used to driving a sports car and I get a kick out of punching it every now and then. I've only had it a month now and I'm just on my second full tank so my figures may be wonky.

Mostly highway miles too, btw.

edit to add, I commute about 60 miles every other day (and a couple of trips to Durham and back).

11. Been driving mine since April 2006
(It's listed as a 2007--go figure.) I get a steady 33/34 around town. Had it on the highway once and got 40 mpg down the coast and 38 mpg back... probably because I took a wrong turn in Paso Robles and and made a couple of touristy stops.

I put better tires on it, slightly bigger and slightly wider, but it seems not to have affected the mileage adversely.

And you won't believe the stuff I've had in that car.

6. I'm almost 6'2" and couldn't believe how roomy and comfortable it felt
when I sat in one at the car show! There were several other cars in that size category that weren't nearly as nice in that respect...

8. I drive a SUV, and it has more room inside than my SUV does...
...it's totally engineered for room. I was amazed.

7. I have a FIT too!
I love it.

I saw one of those bronze puppies the other day. They are hot. Mine's black. Not my first choice of color, but the only one that came with manual transmission on the first load. I got the third one off the truck.

14. We got ours, which is a "Sport" edition...
Edited on Sun Feb-24-08 11:48 PM by Robeson
...for $17,100. We used her old civic for a trade-in, which took $2000 off the price. So we got a loaded car for $15,100.

Will be using my van as a trade in...although, already had someone offer me a private sale on it...will see how that goes.
