What's so special about NCFOM?

Can someone explain to me why the critics were falling all over themselves to praise this movie, and how it ended up with so many awards? What's all the fuss about?

After having seen it, I'm truly baffled.

2. What was good about it?
some psycho going around blowing people away?

Am I supposed to be impressed?

3. It wasn't about a psycho,
though there was a psycho in it. It was about an aging lawman's last case, the one that makes him finally hang up his badge because he's realized that the world has changed and he hasn't, and doesn't want to.

But of course the movie gives a lot of time to the mechanics of exactly why the country is no longer for old men, and you've got to admit there's some amazingly done suspense sequences in there and some terrific acting. Technically it was superb as well.

Maybe it just wasn't your thing. Did you like There Will Be Blood?

6. It was about more about the psycho
and the guy he was hunting down. Tommy Lee's character wasn't memorable at all. It seemed like a pretty standard slasher type movie, only with guns and drugs. I'm surprised it didn't go straight to DVD. I lol'd when it won an Oscar for screenplay. The flimsy script could have fit on a napkin. I thought someone in a junior high film class could have written it.

Haven't seen There Will be Blood yet, but I have higher hopes for it than No Country, since there's a respectable actor in the main role. Will probably see it this weekend.

7. You're confusing what the movie was about with who was given more screen time.
And good screenwriting isn't about the amount of dialogue. I thought it was a satisfying story, well-told.

8. I guess it just goes to show
what a good mass marketing campaign can do for an otherwise mediocre product.

I haven't witnessed such overrated tripe since Crash.

4. I loved it
and thought There Will Be Blood was just another cinematic jerk-off session, only with a general anesthetic applied to PTA's cock so it took too fucking long to go nowhere.

5. Yes - all that flashy camerawork. It was like Scorsese on speed!
