22. My take on Gary Oldman is that he's a true "method" actor.
Like Daniel Day-Lewis, when he takes a part, he "lives" the part, never breaking character during the entire filming process. Therefore, I take his comments quoted above, during which time he was playing a Republican senator, with a grain of salt.

Edward G. Robinson, Barbara Stanwyck, Orson Welles, Fred Astaire-- just to name a few. There are a lot of great actors who have never been recognized. It's a shame.

According to the Internet Movie Database, he turned down the role given Frank Sinatra in "From Here to Eternity." Sinatra won and Oscar for that role.
