Damn..I need to sleep, but my eye hurts soooo bad..
My cataract surgery is next week, and yesterday the Opthalmologist gave me FOUR shots in my eyeball........ so totally CREEEEEEPY...

The surgery could set off a new round of uveitis, so he shot some pre-medication into my eye...just in case..

When I got home it was still numb, but at the numbness wore off, it hurts like hell...

I am very hopeful that I will regain some sight in that eye..even though the pre-op is not what I expected :)

1. You should call his office.
See if he can give you something to ease the pain.

3. Yeowch! Hope your eye is feeling better soon!
Four shots, one right after other - ye gods. Hope they do all they're supposed to!

I get one shot every month in my right eye for macular degeneration. What helps me is to take ibuprofen right before or right after the injection. I have an ice pack that has a gel consistency, even frozen, and put that (wrapped in a cloth) on my eye for 5-10 minutes. When I get home I take a nap. That usually does the trick.

Some people feel the irritation and pain are more from the speculum they use to keep your eye open than the injection - not too much you can do about that, other than hope your doctor uses all his/her skill putting it on. If they use a sterilizing solution (I get Betadine in my eye before the shot) you could ask if your eye could be rinsed out or get some sterile saline drops in once the procedure is over.

Eye stuff can be scary and downright painful. I sure hope you end up with better vision to make all that worth it!
