They're supposed to help keep your produce fresh longer. Do they work? Is there a cheaper alternative as or more effective?

1. My mom bought a couple
she stuck some bananas in one of them and she claims that it's keeping them from ripening too quickly. That's the only thing I know of that she's used it on. She seemed pleased with the results.

5. My kid made me buy a box
He actually said "I saw it on a commercial, so it has to be true!" I've got a lot to teach that kid...

But as for the bags, so far everything seems to keep pretty well. I think my Dole romaine mix is lasting longer than in a ziplock bag, but I've just started to use them. The true test will be on our usual rotting bunch of bananas and Mr. MG's habanero peppers, because I can go for weeks without using up the remainder after making chili with the first few.

They were $10 for a box (at Bed, Bath and Beyond) and quite a few in the box, plus you can reuse them, so it's a pretty good deal, I think.

8. The TV deal was $10 for 20 bags...
Is that about how many were in your box? I'd rather not pay S&H if I can avoid it...

10. Yep, the same
$9.99, 20 bags. You should be able to find them in a local retail establishment to avoid the shipping. :hi:

6.  Guinness?
At the Dublin airport have them pull as many pints as will fit in one of those bags and I will meet you anywhere in the sates to see if they are still fresh? Whatever it costs I will pay!

12. They work amazingly well!
I had a pile of them, but over time I lost them all because some produce, even though the bags kept it fresh for a long time, I didn't bother to use and they went bad anyway, sliming the bags so they had to be thrown away with the food.

But, yes, they work incredibly!

13. A TV consumer guy tested the bags....
And they tested really well. Put them against tupperware, regular baggies and open in the fridge.

In every case the bags came out on top. I ordered some.
