So I have a Newspaper sitting here next to me dated November 23, 1963

Want me to write about the Headlines? What's in the classified?

I got it about eight years ago at a yard sale, and paid a buck for it. It isnt Dallas, just my local paper.

1. That's cool.

:) When I was in high school, we took a field trip to the Newseum (up near Arlington/Washington, D.C. area), and they had computer terminals where you could type in any date and find archived newspapers for that date - one of our assignments was to look up the headlines for the day we were born. Of course I already knew mine (Space Shuttle Explodes 73 Seconds after Liftoff; Seven Astronauts Killed, Including Schoolteacher), but it was still pretty interesting. :hi:

4. I remember years ago going through some old files at work and finding

some notes someone had taken the morning of November 23, 1963.

5. I have newspaper from August 1963 sitting in my desk drawer

I found it about 10 years ago in a box in the basement when we were moving out of our old house. It had a front page story about mysterious underground tunnels found in the city written by my grandfather, when he was still just a beat reporter. Considering the history of flooding our basement had, I was quite shocked to see that survive all those years.

I love looking at the old advertisements, everything was so damn cheap back then

6. a couple other things

The phone numbers start with PR8-####
and houses cost about the same as a small new car does now..most around 9-13,000 dollars.

and on the back is a giant one page ad of a family praying at the dinner table, with business endorsements around the edges.
I just love this kind of stuff.

7. Several Years ago

My brother got me a Life (or Look) Magazine from the week I was born. Very cool present indeed. I haven't seen it in years, I guess its in the attic but it was a neat gift.
