59. So do I...last time in (right before Katrina) we stayed at a great boutique hotel
Edited on Fri Feb-29-08 08:32 AM by mtnester
on St Charels...I do not think it is in operation any more because of Katrina...it was on the north side of the street and the St Carles streetcar run stopped right outside the hotel. Every morning, we left that hotel, took a right and headed toward Poydras for a Mothers breakfast...and since it was convenient, we took snacks and quick bites like debris samwiches out of there regularly. There is a great memory I have of grits and my hubby (I WARNED him not to piss those ladies off with his unreasonable dislike of grits)

We need to get back to your city Boss.

17. Hey, you guys are pretty good
you've covered almost everything.

A book from the Faulkner House bookstore, in the parlor of the house where he lived and wrote for a couple of years before he went back to Mississippi; a bottle of New Orleans Amber rum, preferably from the place on Chartres that doubles as a makeshift bar after dark; and, of all things, a burger. Yes, in the Quarter, even the humble burger achieves transcendence, either at Port of Call on (the Quarter side of) Esplanade, or (even more fun) at Yo' Mama's on St. Peter. Give Erica my undying love :loveya: , but make sure she tells the S.O.B. not to put mayo on the bun this time...

19. Dude...
I ORDER you to take me with you! Puh-LEEZE!!! Waaahhh...

Aside from the whiny-hiney I am, please to pick me up a mess o' crawfish and some creme brulee from the Alpine, some beignet and cafe au lait, a nicely chilled glass of chardonnay from that little bar in Pirates Alley, and to top it all off, whatever it is they serve in those big green alien souvenir glasses. Never had one, but they certainly seem to be making the people tottering around, slurping them, quite happy.

It would be my pleasure. Blackened Shrimp Poboy from the Alpine is one of my life's pleasures, Lordy. The next time your down, treat yourself to a Handgrenade from the Tropical Isle. A green drink that will certainly make you totter. And crawfish are in season.

And I must say, I am truly enamored when a woman orders me to do something.

I don't get to the westbank much but I will make it a point to track it down. Your recommendation is greatly valued. My favorite catfish spot in Slidell was wiped out by Katrina. It was right on the Lake, they reopened inland in a stripmall near a mall. Lordy the evil power of a hurricane.

27. Is Jean LaFitte's Blacksmith Shop still there?
I'm talking eons ago, may not be the name of it, but that's where it was, at the bottom end of Bourbon Street. We used to sit there and look out at the street through gaps in the bricks. Ah, to be that young again. And live in New Orleans. We were young enough that we could live without air conditioning.

Let's start with lunch, since waking up early in New Orleans means noon.

Shrimp po'boy, dressed. Cold Abita Purple Haze.
Dinner at Galatoire's.
Party.
Late night at Cafe du Monde.
And, what the hell, brunch at Brennan's tomorrow.

Athough - I'd take just the po'boy and Abita from Acme. :9
