1. Whew.
I'd rather stink and be able to drink beer and eat bread and pasta than smell nice and not be able to do all that.

We just have to look for or make gluten free dough.

And at Whole Foods yesterday, I noticed that they had glueten free beer. I will try that the next time I'm in there.

But RP, I'm glad it's not a food sensitivity.

4. Yeah, I've known a few people who had gluten allergies.
But it's a pain in the ass to avoid it in this culture.

5. Yeah, I'm eating a LOT MORE
salads these days than I ever have before.

It's really kind of a pain to avoid bread and pasta when that is most of our food supply.

3. I am still looking for some bit on this.
Did you ever write to the makers? I might do that, just to see if it's happened to people besides us.

I'm glad it's not the beer. That would suck. :)

8. I cannot use any laundry detergent except for about 3 brands.
Can you quietly warn others that are not in on this?
(Glad you are ok....)

Don't have to do it outloud if you don't want, it would be nice though to warn anyone thinking about switching brands or something...shit..every way I try to say it sounds like a total privacy invasion...never mind.

:)

10. Do you know what specific ingredient is the issue?
I'm glad you're feeling better and have identified the problem!

At one time, when Snuggle fabric softener first came out, my Mom fell for the cute bunny (around 1973-ish or 1974-ish) and bought some. I went over to my best friend's house to spend the night, and developed from the newly laundered (but sweet smelling) clothes such a total and complete allergic skin reaction that it developed into something from a horror movie. I had hives upon hives...I remember this so clearly because it creeped me out...some of the hives were multi layered and multi leveled...standing 1/2 inch high, some of the hives were like a 5 inch circumference hive with another next to it that bled over on TOP of it...it is hard to describe. I had hives that were incredible every single place my clothing touched. None on my hands past the wrist, and none on my neck or face above the collar. Yikes, I have the creepy shivers thinking about it (skin crawling)

I spent hours in an Epsom salts bath (which was the remedy at the time because you did not go to the hospital for these things back in the day in the country unless home remedies fialed to help). It took 2 DAYS for them to go down, and I spent the better part of each day in a salt bath.

To this day, changing brands on anything that touches my skin is scary business.

Edited for clarity

14. I used a new laundry detergent and a new body wash on the same week
a few years ago, and one or the other of them gave me contact dermatitis, which was one of the most unpleasant experiences of my LIFE, especially the course of oral steroids I had to take to get rid of it. I will never use anything but the most gentle and hypoallergenic and fragrance-free, etc, things against my skin ever again!
