I wonder if they'd still sell some to me, if they knew I wasn't exactly in their demographic!

1. Actually, I can totally see you as a culottes kinda gal. :^)
I had some denim ones when I was in 2nd grade. I wore them with my macramé belt and clogs. LOL

6. My dear ih8thegop!
Their demographic consists of modest Christian women!

I may be modest, and I am certainly a woman...

But I'm only culturally Christian, silly!

I don't follow the Bible the way they do...

Thank you, though...

I haven't been told I'm hot in a while...

7. I like them too Peggy!
I like the fact that I can wear them & not worry. They are so cool in the hot summer. They were in style when I was young.

8. My dear carolinabeachbum!
I still wear them!

Sears had them quite a few years ago, and I bought a dozen...

Since I knew they wouldn't always be available...

I still have them, and I still wear them!

I don't care if they're not fashionable...neither am I!

15. Culottes? Aren't those just really baggy shorts?
Or a skirt with legs?

Hadn't thought about them for years, but they would definitely fit my lifestyle.

17. My dear cbayer!
I think of them as shorts with the pants in skirt form...

The legs are flared...

I really find them comfortable!

I like the look of a skirt, with the feel of pants...

Plus, they usually have pockets, and those are invaluable!

If you click on the link in my OP, you'll be able to see lots and lots of culottes!

:hi:

16. I was sent home from a public school for wearing culottes
I know it is difficult to imagine for the younger set, but there were strict rules when I was in high school..and among the rules were no slacks for women. Because there was a PIECE of fabric between my legs, this made them classify culottes as PANTS.
My "skirt" did not look like pants, and had the folds in the front and back to hide any "pantlook".

I was also sent home for wearing earrings and I had pierced ears and my mother came back with me and gave them an earful. You could not wear even post earrings as they were "distracting", they said. I was told to wear a piece of thread through my earlobes or even a piece of straw to keep the holes open.

Later on, I became really rebellious and was sent home numerous times for my dress/skirt being too short.

My senior year, 1970, we were finally allowed to wear "tailored slacks".

Yipee

19. My dear Digit!
What an awful school you were subjected to!

That is just a ridiculous bunch of rules...

I can believe you were rebellious...And good for you!

And the ironic thing is, the link I have in my OP suggests that culottes are for modest women!

I'll bet you're really happy to be away from that toxic environment!

I hope their rules have changed, too...

21. I remember wearing pants to school
because it was sooooo cold out and having to change into a skirt once I got there.

What a bunch of silly rules. And in our lifetime.

18. Christ, I'm old! I remember when there was a big fight in my high school, because
the girls maintained that culottes were NOT, technically shorts, which the Dress Code didn't allow.

Of course, and this may be no surprise to you, I was instrumental in breaking that Dress code by wearing the following to school:

1) Cowboy boots.

2) Blue jeans, though I haven't owned a pair of those for over 25 years.

3) A Field Jacket.

Not to mention my hair.

That presented a quandary to the administration: could they REALLY throw a Star Student out of school over clothing and hair?

Turned out they figured that might be a bad idea.

You're right...your story doesn't surprise me one little bit!

Good for you!

Made them reassess their priorities, didn't you?
