Hello from Radio Lady and Audio Al... at the business center of the Hilton Hotel...
on Kauai, Hawaii.

Yesterday, we drove up to Waimea Canyon. It was NOT shrouded in fog, but there was a bit of a haze... we'll see if hubby can improve the shots.

It is also NOT RAINING... they've had a drought here, but it still looks green and beautiful.

Trying not to think about politics today as we go to Lihue for a lunch.

Probably won't have time to answer any responses here... just sayin'.

Thanks for looking and good luck to the Dems tomorrow (Super Tuesday), whomever you are supporting.

Cordially,

Radio Lady & Spouse!

4. Hi KC2... we've moved over to the Big Island of Hawaii... have you ever been here?
This is our favorite island. Grandpa Audio Al took grandson Michael to see the newest lava flow -- they had to hike in about 3 - 4 miles.

Grandma stayed back at the Waiakoloa resort, slept, ate, sat out that the pool listening to the two performers (I was the only listener) and read my latest Danielle Steel book "Malice" (1996).

I never read her books... just found this one in a coffee house somewhere.

Warm regards,

Radio Lady

5. I've been to the Big Isle several times!
I can't believe you didn't go to see the lava flow, though....aaack! RL... I hope you've seen it in the past. It's one of nature's most spectacular shows!!

7. We actually were here a year BEFORE the flow began, and then returned the next year to see it.
The Chain of Craters road was closed, but Grandpa insisted on driving over grass and other foliage to get right there. No rangers in sight. We extremely close as the lava was creeping up to a house. I have to explain that the vent produces "friendly" lava which moves very slowly.

The heat was SO INTENSE... unbelievable. A man in a truck was harvesting the palm trees which were in the path of the flow. He took a machete and cracked opened a green coconut and gave it to us.

Since then, I've been out to see it again. We drove to the viewing spot, parked our car, and hiked in to see it again. It was raining, and the smell of sulfur almost overwhelmed me. So, that's why I passed up the trip once again.

I need a shirt that says, "I'VE SEEN THE LAVA AND IT STINKS..." Naw, I encourage those who haven't seen it to go there at least once.

When we get back, I'm going to insist that Grandpa bring out those old photo albums from 1983-84 and scan them into Webshots. Should be interesting.

Enjoy your week, KC2. I'll be glad to get home, but wish you were here instead.

Cordially,

Radio Lady, Audio Al, and Grandson Michael in Waiakoloa

8. I'd love to see those pics!!
Hope you scan them soon. And, yes, I'd like to be there!! Have you seen the weather reports from the storms on the mainland?! I don't see why anybody would be in a hurry to return here! Just enjoy the clean air, warm sunshine, and blue pacific, while you can!! Aloha! :hi:

11. Regrettably, the air is not as clear as you might imagine.
We are getting VOG...

Check out: http://www.konaweb.com/vog/index.shtml

Like FOG but with volcanic ash added. The skies and clouds are looking kind of gray today... you might think it's haze, but it isn't like any I've ever seen.

Not to rain on anyone's parade... it is still pretty beautiful.

Peace...

Radio Lady Ellen

2. Oh, my - I *love* that Hilton!!
Pant drool drool pant.

Excellent hotel.

The beach is a bit nasty with waves, though - I almost lost my shorts in a few waves once when they were coming in high and powerful.

We made the mistake, unfortunately, of staying at the mysteriously super highly rated shithole next door.

We'd go over to the Hilton's bar and hang out so we could be around people who weren't fucking annoying tactless middle-management idiot jackasses.

The shithole was fucking embarrassing. Their daily "Elegant Complimentary Afternoon Cocktail Hour with the Manager" was a bunch of 2-liter bottles of shit wine poured indelicately into plastic cups (not even plastic wine cups - just plastic cups) and shitty MaiTais from bottles poured with haste and hopeless abandon into the same plastic cups. We went the first afternoon, and never returned. The sickening display of morons who thought it was "just grand, just marvelously grand" turned my stomach.

3. Never mind - it's the Grand Hyatt that we were next to. Not the Hilton.

The shithole, by the way, was the Prince Kuhio "resort", which is now, I believe, all timeshares (we were there in 2002, and they said they were trying to end the hotel aspect, and go all timeshare).

Had I known before we went there that it was a timeshare place, I never would have agreed to it.

We did go to the Hilton one night for supper - wonderful food, and a truly beautiful hotel.

6. Ha--ha... we stayed at the Prince Kuhio in the 1980s. As I recall, our "view of the ocean"
was about a foot wide between two other massive hotels. That was on Oahu...

We are owners at the Hilton Lagoon Tower, right next to the Hilton Rainbow Tower (the hotel) in Honolulu (Waikiki Beach).

The Hilton Hawaiian Village is a really neat place. It's very busy at all hours. My favorite thing is swimming in the Tapa Tower pool which is open until 10 PM every night.

Last time we were here, the moon was visible between the palm trees. At 8 PM, the Tapa bar has entertainment, and they played some songs I remembered.

This time, it was a country singer, but he was good... played Jimmy Buffett melodies and a couple of other songs I kind of know. We are here about a week or so before spring break.

Have a wonderful week, Rabrrrrr.

Cordially,

Radio Lady in Oregon

13. Luckily, my husband is watching it in the middle of the night when I am asleep.
I don't have to have a fix with H & O duking it out on television...sheesh...

Maybe we'll watch the Mississippi results on Tuesday... but perhaps not.

Luckily, our grandson doesn't know much about politics. Grandpa can talk to HIM and not ME.

Peace, love and Hawaii happiness,

Radio Lady Ellen
