Do you ever feel like a pessimist in the real world, but a wild optimist here?

In the 'real world' I have the most pessimistic attitude about where the world is going, but some days, when I come here, I practically feel like a dewy eyed kid, bursting at the possibility of a limitless future. I can't count the number of times I read a thread and think to myself 'Oh come on now, it isn't that bad!' And you know what? Suddenly I feel a little better about the world, knowing just how much worse it could possibly be!

Is that twisted?
