Brett Favre set to retire after 17 years
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080304/ap_on_sp_fo_ne/fbn_packers_favre

GREEN BAY, Wis. - Brett Favre has decided to retire from the NFL after 17 seasons. FOX Sports first reported Tuesday that the Green Bay Packers quarterback informed the team in the last few days. ESPN.com said that according to Favre's agent the quarterback told coach Mike McCarthy of his decision.

The team did not immediately confirm or deny the report. An assistant to Packers general manager Ted Thompson said he was in meetings all day but would release a statement later Tuesday morning.

The news was a surprise to at least one of Favre's teammates. Most players expected Favre to return after a successful 2007 season.

Next stop Canton, Ohio.

1. As a lifelong VIkings fan all I can say is....
Congratulations on a wonderful career. Speaking for the rest of the league, you were a worthy foe.

I'd still have to give the edge to Joe Montana for utter machine-iike perfection, but Brett's bust will be in Canton ASAP.

He's earned it.

2. He sure kicked the crap out of us over the past 16 seasons
Not like that is all that unique, but he did it more and better than anyone else.

Most of all, I'll remember this play....
