if the cousin in question is your first cousin, the child is your first cousin, once removed.

7. Assuming you're talking about a 1st cousin.....
it's your first cousin once-removed. The "removed" part refers to generations -- your niece/nephew is a generation younger than you, thus the once-removed part.

Any blood relationship which requires more than two words to explain, provided the person is not a member of one's immediate family. Alternately, a person who is a relative but not so close as to be obligated to give a really nice gift at your wedding.
