5. Coffe presses rock
Be sure to set your bean grinder to a rough grind.Fine grinds like one would use in an expresso machine do not come out as good and will allow grounds to pass through the screen into the cup.
I like to drink my coffee not eat it.

We have like three different Frech presses at home.

My Dad is addicted to it now, too.

I drink tea, so I get it: losse tea steeped just right is heaven!

9. My husband never liked coffee until I bought a press..
now it's all he'll drink too. It really extracts the oils and makes the coffee so robust.

15. Well this was my first time using one this morning
and holy shit I need to use more water, less brew time or find a lighter roast because while it tasted delicious, I went to work and I thought I was tripping for the first half of the day.

18. lmao...
Yeah...the longer you let it brew, the stronger the taste. Of course you can always add more water after you make it.

16. Google "Aeropress" and check it out.
I bought one over a year ago and have used nothing else since. Smooth coffee, tons of flavor and no bitterness at all. I use Costco dark roast fine grind and it tastes wonderful.

Woof

19. I've been using my aeropress a lot lately...
...mostly because it's easier in the early morning to make a thermos full with the aero. I do have to load it with more coffee than I normally use in a french press-- ground much finer, of course-- and I find that the coffee is more robust if I fit the plunger into the tube so the coffee won't drip through quite so fast and let it steep for several minutes rather than the recommended 10 seconds or whatever. I also think it makes better coffee when I roast the beans lighter than my usual full city roast for the press (depends on the bean, too). I like the aero. It sure makes a clean, flavorful cup.

I do think the french press preserves some of the flavors better than the aero does-- I'd like to try it with a gold filter instead of paper filters, although that would make cleaning it a chore. I really love how easy it is to clean and maintain. Still, some compounds extracted from the beans apparently cling to the polar cellulose molecules in the filter and don't make it into the cup.
