that turned into an Obama lovefest! They were just oohing and ahhing over Obama, and what it'll be like when he's in the White House (hard to describe but to sum up: Ponies!!). When I said I voted for JRE in the primary and don't feel great about either of the remaining, there was a moment of silence, and then they started to "help me see Barack for what he is". I then pointed out the the call had an agenda, and I could hang up and one of them could call and let me know when the actual meeting was starting. And that ended it.

Geez!!!

5. Well, somebody from their denomination and area? Probably no wonder they're a bit moon-eyed.
My hypothesis about why people get so weirdly love-struck over Obama?

He talks about stuff everybody identifies with and tries to avoid specifics that might turn people off. People read into what he says what they want to hear. They get emotionally invested because they're filling in all the blanks with their own opinions. It's self love.

There's also that Jack Kennedy effect that comes from being young and good looking in a business where most are neither. It makes the opposition look old and tired (and McCain certainly doesn't need the help, and lately neither does Senator Clinton- campaigning does not seem to agree with her.)
