Movies shot in Portland, Oregon
My Own Private Idaho
Mr. Holland's Opus
The Secretary
Elephant

That's all I got. Am I missing any? "Animal House" was shot in Eugene, but it's not Portland. I only bring that up to say that "Animal House" was shot in Eugene, which makes U of O even more awesomer than it already is.

and found a few more. Parts of "The Hunted" were filmed in Portland. Other movies filmed in Portland include "Untraceable," "Cinema 21," "Feast of Life," "Mr. Brooks" and "Navy Diver."

Apparently, a lot of films shot in Portland kinda...suck.

7. Goonies
shot over in and around Astoria. Some beach scenes were re-shot in Bodega Bay. Maverick shot quite a bit in the Columbia Gorge. We stayed at the hotel across from the Lloyd Center. I think the Ninja Turtles movie was done in Astoria also.

18. Right.
I forgot that one. Astoria is beautiful. I loved Portland. In fact the parts of Oregon that I've seen are all quite nice.
The Oregonians are none too fond of Californians though.:(

forest right behind me, and the beach in front of me.
My plan was to open a bookstore-cafe on the bottom floor, with reading spots all over the grounds, and lots of windchimes, my dogs running all over.
I would live upstairs, of course...where the view would be breathtaking from all the windows, all year round.
Sadly, it has not come to pass................yet???

22. Beautiful fantasy.
For awhile, I subscribed to the local paper and thought similar thoughts. Real Estate was a real bargain back then - my last impression is that gentrification bumped prices quite a bit. Of course today's economic scene may have impacted
things in a downward direction. You might check it out online at the Daily Astorian.com.

As it is, I'm semi-retired on the California coast and near my children so it's all good.

I actually looked at real estate and jobs....It seemed so real.

Perhaps it can still happen.

Your life sounds pretty good...anywhere on the coast is good for me.
I am going to check out that website. Thanks.

19. So right near there.
I saw some beaches there that may very well have been some of the ones that were shot for that film... they sure as hell looked like it. :) Probably not, there's a lot of coastline there and I don't know exactly where I was. My sister was showing us around the area.

Got a nifty picture of me standing on one of the rocks and doing the Karate Kid crane kick/balancing on one foot pose. :P

Old Town stood in for 1940s Los Angeles.

Also Men of Honor, I think, and Love at Large, for which I watched a scene being filmed in Pioneer Courthouse Square. They did the same ten-second sequence about eight times, trying to get it exactly right.
