It seems like a nice (and close) bunch here, so I thought I would introduce myself.

My name is Richard, I am a 44 year single male from NJ.

Professional I am an IT guy along with some Public Health functions. I am one of those jack of all trades type. Got a degree in engineering, spent 15 years as a facility manager in a Hospital. After the healthcare business became hell, I moved on to a career in IT and now work for the government. On top of that I have volunteered for over 22 years and an emergency medical tech and heavy rescue person.

I am a big football fan (Giants), even run my own Giants message board. I love movies (action and romantic comedies top my list) as well as TV (LOST, Heros, Law and Order, NCIS, 2 and a Half Men and so on).

So that's a little about myself, I hope you all don't mind if I join you group.

Here's a brief history.

In the beginning, the Lounge was created. And skygazer said, "I miss circle jerks," which she blamed on racaulk. The mods locked. racaulk proceeded to attack Gwen Stefani's honor, which the mods approved of. Meanwhile, DuStrange (that's me) failed to understand women. LeftyMom, in her rush to complete her Human Sexuality homework, accidentally created the "pev." And it was good, albeit, a little sticky.

Male and Female were created. Most people got to decide their own gender, however, some of us had to allow the masses to decide. After some voting, it was decided that I (DuStrange) am a male and that temeah is also male (or maybe grapefruit).

At one time, Southpawkicker was Lounge emperor. We had assholes, but times were good. Generally, we are all awesome.

They are, however, frowned upon by the moderators. You need to learn the expression, "IBTL" which means In Before The Lock. You will find that the most innocuous threads frequently become sex threads, or body function threads, and are soon locked, so the race is to get "in before the lock."

You didn't self destruct as much as you had the misfortune of facing the hot team, as your first play off game. I think Dallas had the more talented team. It just seemed like they weren't in very good shape. I mean I have never seen an offensive line get tired before the other team's defensive line did. It's almost always the D-line that gets tired first.

lots of Jersey people here to commiserate with - but I gotta warn you now, I'm a SOUTH Jersey girl. Remember the Corzine accident? It happened a few miles from my home, and he was hospitalized at my local hospital - we all just wanted him to go away. :P

Now for the important stuff....being that I'm from south Jersey, I am NOT a Giants fan. I am an Eagles fan (but Donovan and Andy HAVE to go). I know I posted this somewhere else, but Eagles fans have a hate-o-meter for our division rivals, in this order:

1. COWGIRLS
2. Giants
3. Redskins

Gawd, but we hate Dallas and their primadonna T.O. He fucked us over with his attention whore issues and behavior problems, we got rid of him, and now we all wear "Dallas Sucks but T.O. swallows" t-shirts to all our division games.

Having said that....obviously we didn't get to the playoffs this year, and the Giants and Cowgirls did. A situation like this is very difficult for any Eagles fan who also LOVES watching football, no matter what the team. Loving football places a person in a position to pick out a team to root for. Hmmmmm.....NOBODY here was rooting for The Brady Bunch (they kicked our asses in Superbowl 2005), so now we were looking at NY, Dallas, and Green Bay. Now, for me to get pumped up for a team, I have to have a certain attachment to them, or I just can't get excited. Since NYG plays in Jersey, I swallowed my pride and hopped on board the Giants train.

My brother hung out with us to watch the Dallas/NY game. OMG - that was sweet, so sweet. Tony should have kept his dick in his pants instead of trotting off with Jessica to Cabos. Then came time for Green Bay, and while I have nothing against Favre and Friends, I was SO excited when NYG beat them and were officially headed for the Super Bowl. HOLY SHIT!!!!!

Nomad, my friend.....I CRIED with joy when they slaughtered the Brady Bunch. Eli is a class act, I've always admired Strahan, and the Giants have become one of the only teams who understands that there is no "I" in "team". Your team made me proud. Congrats!

I just wanted to let you know where I stand with all that - yes, I'm from Jersey, I'm an Eagles fan - but when push comes to shove, the Giants have my back.

I would say our hate meters are pretty much in tune. Just change Giants into Eagles. I could understand hating TO. I mean I can't stand him, and he didn't screw over my team. You must have enjoyed all the youtube videos making fun of the Cowboys after the defeat. As a Giants fan last season was a great ride. Like you I would have rooted for whoever was playing against the Cowboys and the Patriots. So to see them lose and have my team win the Super Bowl.... well it doesn't get any better than that. Like you said the Giants are an easy team to root for. Down to earth players, who used great team work to over come their talent short comings. What's not to like.

The Cowboys were pretty much fading throughout December, while the Giants were moving in exactly the opposite direction over that same period.

All I can say is thanks for getting the Lombardi Trophy back in the NFC where it belongs!

I think Parcells put together a great team down there. However I think the coach wasn't strict enough. As a result, it seems like the team lost it's focus. I have seen that happen before, with player friendly coaches.

I always sort of saw it as Parcells getting the personnel in place, but he could never seem to get them "over the hump." Their performance was dramatically better (on offense, I'd say most of the credit goes to Jason Garrett) until that last month of regular season. I thought typical Cowboys overconfidence and hubris did it. Hadn't thought about head coaching issues.
