Some good news!

My routine mammogram last week had shown some masses and I was advised to get an ultrasound. I just did that this afternoon and they are benign cysts. :bounce: I suspected that was the case as I've had them for more than a decade but with everything else that has gone on this week (see my journal if you don't know my story,) it still gave me a shot of adrenaline! :)

Still waiting on the call to head to MD Anderson. Looks like it won't happen until at least Monday. I guess I'll get some grading done this weekend so I don't have to think about it the rest of the week (spring break!) Have a great weekend! :hi: :grouphug:

4. Yup, we're on quarters

I'm in grad school at Ohio State. I'm in biology -- my research is sort of in the realm of Ecology/Conservation Biology. Right now i'm TAing an intro Ecology class. It's about 150 students, so it's a big stack of finals!

5. The closest I got to biology in college

was environmental biology for non-science majors. My undergraduate degree is in government. ;) I didn't go to grad school until I was in my 40s but I loved it! Good luck!

In fact, i planned on just doing a Masters but now i'm en route to a PhD. In other words i'm a super-nerd. :D

21. It's such a struggle to keep dark thoughts from entering my mind.

As I was laying there on the table in the dark while the technician was showing the results to the radiologist, I was tired and feeling a little down and started imagining the worst. Then I remembered how many of you and my loved ones have told me that I'm a strong woman. So I kind of mentally smacked myself and shook myself out of it and told myself that even if the news was bad, I'd fight it. Then the technician returned with news (and I have no idea if she even knows that I already have cancer) and I felt energized. I went from being a little worried about driving home because I was so tired to feeling full of energy.

If that's not a lesson in how attitude can affect our bodies, I don't know what is! :)
