Anybody else LOVE Anna Deavere Smith?
Saw her wonderful new one woman show at New Haven's Long Wharf Theatre, "Let Me Down Easy."

She does an amazing number of impersonations in this study of how the human body is resilient or is problematic. She is Lance Armstrong, talking about his body as if it is a machine, and Ann Richards, talking about her cancer and her chi, women who had been raped in Darfur, many others. The ending, about children with AIDS dying is so heartrending most everyone in the audience was left in tears.

A great playwright/actress...

Her one-woman shows after the Los Angeles riots and after the Crown Heights black-Jewish tensions were amazing.
