I haven't been there in years so I can't recommend specific restaurants. It's foodie paradise. I'm jealous.

hope you get to enjoy my birth city. May I suggest just walking around the downtown areas under the porticos? Window shopping, people shopping... luckily the downtown area is fairly compact. I may also suggest visiting the old University campus and see the anatomical theater which is absolutely amazing... Say hi to my city. Like someone else said, the food is terrific. There is a wonderful food place downtown, it's called Tamburini.. . the aroma of the meats and cheeses still lingers in my memory.

I'll try Tamburini. I know that Bologna is in Emilia Romagna, the food capital (along with Piemonte) of Italy. Of course, I'll do the entire city, too. My Frommers guide is excellent...

I'm really excited about this trip. It is certainly a "road less traveled..."
