I am so proud of my 7 yr old daughter...
This morning, her mom dropped her off on the way to work, and she wanted to watch a movie. All her kid flicks are packed away for my move, so she went thru an open box of my movies and took one out and put it in the DVD while I was in the other room.

When I walked back in I saw that she was watching "Kissing Jessica Stein." http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0264761/ A movie with a lesbian themed love story. A good movie, yet not age appropriate. And so I explained that the movie was not for her due to language and subject matter.

Her reply?

"Dad, I know they say bad words, but I've heard them before and I know not to say them."

Okay, well, then, on to the subject matter.

Her: "I've seen two girls kissing, you know. I saw that in that movie 'V' remember. The girls were gay."

Me: "Yes, they were."

Her: "Is there something wrong with girls being gay?"

Me: "No."

Her: "Is there something wrong with two girls kissing?"

Me: "No, honey, there's not."

Her: "Can two girls get married?"

Me: "No, honey, legally they can't. At least not here in Wisconsin."

Her: "Well, I think that's stupid. If they can kiss, they should be able to get married."

I love my daughter...

4. I love the fact that she doesn't need to understand
the concept, but can still undertand right from wrong.

11. I think she understands the concept pretty well. :)
Sometimes it IS that simple. Society keeps trying to make it more complicated than it is. But from the perspective of someone who hasn't been immersed in said society for decades it may easier to see the simplicity. :)

no wonder you are proud!

And off the subject - you say you're moving -- did you get that cool apartment you mentioned a while back?

9. Yes, I did.
and before I signed the lease all these red flags came up, not limited to the landlord raising the rent twice in one week.

I ended up finding another place in the same neighborhood, not quite as cool, but a lot cheaper.

Started moving stuff today.

see things in the best, most liberal way.

16. Yeah. That's what I told the last guy who kissed me. You can still see the treadmarks
from his tires as he backed out of the driveway at 100 mph -:hi:

Just kidding - I wouldn't get married again for anything - but the kid's a keeper, for sure!

It shows me that you have done a wonderful job raising her.
