Anyone else here own a SIGG bottle?
I just purchased my first SIGG bottle this past Wednesday - got the one-liter model in textured blue with a traditional stopper. Took a little getting used to, but the interior of the bottle doesn't seem to affect the taste of the drink. Now ginbarn has her own bottle, too.

Where I work, the cafeteria is apparently cool with me filling up the SIGG bottle with my beverage of choice instead of using one of their disposable cups, so it started dawning on me that these bottles can be really great for the environment in terms of reducing waste for landfills.

If you have one of these, what's your experience like finding SIGG-friendly restaurants, convenience stores, truck stops, etc.?

4. one of these?

http://www.mysigg.com/

Choose from all the SIGG water bottle designs available, select the lid and accessories you like and create a SIGG that matches your style. Afterall, it's not what you drink, it's what you drink it in.

SIGG combines 100 years of Swiss quality & craftsmanship with a fresh, fun perspective on contemporary style – delivering a water bottle with both function AND fashion!

Plus using a premium reusable bottle like SIGG greatly helps reduce unnecessary environmental waste caused by plastic PET water bottles. Sadly, Americans add over 30 million plastic water bottles to our nation's landfills – everyday!

11. I've got the blue one on the bottom lineup
I've had it for a couple of years and so far, so good! Much safer than plastic bottles, and much better for the environment.

6. I googled that
Those look a little pricey to me. I have a one quart bottle I bought at the Medieval Faire that's blue glass with a rubber stopper - I paid $5.00 when it was full of lemonade. I've been toting that instead of paying for bottled water. Not only is it more environmentally friendly, but it looks cool. I should probably make some sort of beaded sling for it

8. We have three Nalgenes and one Sigg bottle
They generally go with us in the car everywhere - save money on convenience stops, save waste and packaging. They're excellent. :)

9. I have one
It's a bit smaller and it does give the water a bit of a metallic taste, but I think that's because I'm tasting the exterior of the bottle. I use it when I go to the gym or out on long drives. I usually just refill it at any water fountain I can find, so I've never had any trouble there. Kind of cut restaurants out a while ago to save $$.

Another Swiss fad, ala Swatch. Who really gives a fuck? Save your money. buy something from tupperware/rubbermaid and you're done.

Paint it up with a marker if you're that interested in being different while you carry around a water bottle like everyone else being different.

You have a class of young strong men and women, and they want to give their lives to something. Advertising has these people chasing cars and clothes they don't need. Generations have been working in jobs they hate, just so they can buy what they don't really need. ~Chuck Palahniuk, Fight Club, Chapter 19

12. Um, no. many plastic containers leech chemicals into drinking water
and food. There's been quite a few news reports on this lately. Sigg bottles are made to resist leeching any toxic substance into drinking water, which is important to pregnant women, those with weakened immune systems (like myself), and anyone who gives a shit about their health.

13. Whole Foods sells SIGG bottles and I wasn't impressed with the quality.
They seemed way too thin to hold up to much abuse plus they're aluminum. So, I bought a couple of Klean Kanteens from reusablebags.com :)

I also bought some of these bags while I was there...

22. They take all the abuse you can throw at them
They are actually rather over-engineered (and expensive) for everyday use, but can be good for heavy-duty hiking - you can pour boiling liquid into them (good for when you're having to boil all your drinks to kill tough bacteria), you can drop them down cliffs, and they still won't leak. The Kleen Kanteen look like an acceptable alternative - looking at a few comparisons on websites, some people seem to think the KK bottle give a metallic taste, where the SIGG bottles don't (they have a lining inside the aluminium).

14. I've got two of them!
Just plain silver but I got a sports top with an orange cap. I also got the neoprene cover so it won't sweat. It's amazing to me out lightweight they are. I like the idea of not throwing away plastic. I have a PUR water pitcher, too, just to make the water taste better. Ours isn't bad but I've never cared much for water. Now I like it! :)

Mine is the one-liter size so I've never had to refill away from home.

15. My cup - 32oz plastic cup from the Dollar store
Yeah, it's plastic but I plan on having it for the rest of my working career. I got 2 of them for $1 and one is used here at work and the other at home. Not sure why I need to spend any more for designer drinking bottles

If it isn't, you have failed as a consumer. Off to the re-education camps with you.

For a plastic/glass bottle holder made out recycled plastic bags. I intend to try it: sounds like fun. There are also patterns for handbags, reusable grocery totes and more. http://www.myrecycledbags.com/

23. I have one my friend sent me as a gift.
It's the pale orange one with the oriental flower design. The bottle was knocked over and the fall cracked the cap. I got a round fliptop cap in blue for a complementary color scheme. Also got a neoprene holder.

Pretty cool.

Never had good luck with them. One of the times I climbed Rainier everyone was having MSR problems. We melted all of our snow in an old Coleman Peak One.

26. Me!
I live in Germany and they are everywhere. It's pretty standard to have them - my kids take them to school. You never see kids with bottled water - just too expensive, there are also very few throw away type containers for food. I love ours - expensive yes, but so is bottled water. I like to give them as gifts when I go home to the US. I'm still dismayed when I go home at how run of the mill bottle water.
