2. Their recursive nature. The eyes look for the center; it's a virtual journey...
Numerous virtual journeys; the eye can only follow one pattern at a time; fractals are composed of numerous recursive strains...

I also diddied a bit with photoshop; I didn't really need to, but it's got a few filters that add an extra dimension...

Nice explanation. Do you mean ethereal, as in an otherworldly sense? I don’t see where you get ethereal; or did you just want to type it, it is rather fun to type.

7. Oops, yeah, "otherworldly" quality. I must be getting senile in my tender old age...

I just wanted to type it too. :D

I thought it had something of an unearthly sense; one doesn't see a planet baking in the background... (technically the moon overexposed during an exclipse and superimposed in a background of a countryside, whose background was lit by a nearby city -- the white merging in a rather creepy way...)
