4. I've already had 3 cherry tomatoes from my garden.
There were some small ones on the vine when I planted it and they actually ripened. They were delicious. Oh yum -- and more on the way.

13. alas, I did not inherit her green thumb
I'm basically lazy and it just seems like too much work - but at 77 she's still at it - she's a Brit and has ivy growing all over the house and color-coordinated flowers in front and back of the house - strangers are always stopping to marvel at them :D

I am looking forward to doing some gardening this spring. My front yard is completely shaded by huge pine trees, so I need to do something about that. The rhododendrons still have the buds from last year, they never bloomed:

Any ideas on what to plant?

Hosta, primrose, impatiens and violets....

I would go to the garden center now and talk to the plant and flower guy....

BEFORE he gets to busy....

I usually have in the partly sunny parts

LOTS and LOTS of alyssum (smells great)
Lavender
astilbe
impatiens
primrose
babys breath
and usually anything I think is beautiful as I walk through the garden center
of course
pink, red and white begonias and pink and red geraniums are a staple

I have coreospis and euchinacea
they are both very invasive so you have to keep an eye on them......

and if you can find some... usually early cause it sells out
for a pot or hanging basket

bocapa

hangs beautifully

15. we are well past crocus and into mid daffodil season here
I have daffodils that are way past their prime, daffodils in peak bloom, daffodils in bud and daffodils still in the just green stage
and I have hyacinths with buds today!

I planted a bunch of new stuff this year, a bit on the late side of normal so any blooms I get will be marvelous but if they at least give me green shoots this year, I will have blooms next year for certain.

The early bloomers are my old faithful returners that come back and give more each year.

Which is why I love iris, daffodils, daylilies and other plants that grow from bulbs.

They return every year and multiply

16. Here too it's mid-late daffodil season.
Iris foliage is looking strong right now too. Do you grow agapanthus AKA lily of the Nile? That's a solid, easy going rhizomatic type like irises. They bloom here (valley Northern CA) in late May through June.

17. yes, I have a yellow one and intend to get some more. They like North Texas
fairly well. I have a bigger plant that is similar called surprise lily that I have had for several years and it is an August bloomer here. Pink blooms, and beautiful foliage.

Thanks!1

18. Ha! I have those too.
Lycoris AKA Naked Ladies in this area. Sounds like we have a lot of climate overlap.
