3. As a beader, I say "eeech!"
My favorite "jewelry" has to be from Sundance catalog, however.

A beaded necklace (glass beads), $78. I got a nearly identical necklace at a street fair in California for $5.

But my favorite items in the Sundance catalog are the "leather thong + one silver or glass bead or one silver charm = $60 and up".

I shouldn't be jealous; I should cash in on this silliness.

7. It's crazy, isn't it, MorningGlow.

I get crazy over some of the stuff I see here for $100. Geez. You can see the wire and the crimp, they don't even bother to finish their work well, it's just plain old glass, and they want mundo bucks.

Feh!

Cash in on it, MorningGlow! I aim for the tourists that come to my area from big cities. They know their stuff, and are willing to pay for good quality. But then, I use good stone, sterling, 14k gold fill, etc.

Am I awful...? I just want to make a living!! But I'm careful with my work and my finishing.

I once saw a peace sign on a single leather thong, oh yeah, $50. I had a hard time not laughing out loud in the store--had to hurry out and down the street before I started snorting.

Zeph

8. Completely insane
When I make jewelry, I am over the top when it comes to design--I'm obsessed with color, balance, symmetry (if that's the kind of piece it is), etc....and the whole time all I had to do was sling a charm on a strip of leather and charge $60!
:wtf:

When I quit my full-time job more than a year ago, I was torn as to whether I should freelance write or create jewelry. The writing came rolling in, so it was pretty clear what the Universe wanted me to do, but I do hope to get back to some serious beading-while-watching-TV once things balance out.

As for your making a living, Zeph? I say go for it. You set the price, folks are willing to pay for it, plus you guarantee good quality--makes perfect sense! :hi:

10. I've got lots of old costume jewelry I need to get rid of.
Old button earrings and costume necklaces from the 50s and 60s. They belonged to my mom and grandma.

I'd be happy to sell it to people.
