I just put someone on ignore. What is happening to me?

I really try to be tolerant and make a sincere attempt to respect other people's opinions. Tonight I have found myself to be intolerant of intolerance.

I never appreciated the ignore function until tonight. Tip of the hat to the moderators.

Blood pressure will be resuming to normal now.

Don't feel bad. Someone here told me they have a running count of people they've put on ignore b/c of GD-P. It makes him feel better to just make note that this is "#25" on the ignore list rather than trying to reason or argue with idiots.

I come here to let loose a little, unwind, have some spirited debate, learn something new. But it was blatant racism in my personal life that brought me here in the first place. DU has been a refuge because that crap seemed pretty absent. But tonight? It's like the claws have come out.

If only to feel like you have some small measure of ability to combat the assholishness you can find in the place sometimes.

I'm sure there are worse people then the poster I added to the list (of one currently), but if the mood is right and someone crosses the asshole threshold, they're fair game. I'll probably clear the list in a day or so, or I might forget anyone is on it for months. No tragedy either way.

Some people are pure candidate hacks who engage in discussion with no integrity or intellectual honesty whatsoever and it's tiresome. Nothing wrong with being "intolerant of intolerance" as you say. And I know what you mean about the blood pressure thing. Not worth the aggravation.

I did it so that I could hopefully forget their momentary lack in the ability to debate without hurling insult. I also tip my hat to the moderators for locking a worthy thread. I have been mean to the mods lately, which makes me sheepish.
