Interesting
Let's say you're a large utility company that provides both electric and gas service to the community and that you make your customers establish separate accounts for each which, in my opinion, is stupid but that's the way it is. Then let's say you receive a check for the exact amount of the gas bill from your customer (which also has the correct account number written on it but we'll leave that be) which is is also four times greater than the amount of the electricity bill. Would you then apply said check to the electricity account? Because that's what DTE Energy did with me.

Wouldn't you think that somebody would notice? Nope.

2. I'm glad I did
Because there was also a threat to turn the gas off for 'non payment.'

3. Utility companies suck!
I have had that same sort of thing happen time and time again.

I came home to no water one time because my payment got posted to the wrong account...duh...

4. How awful
I hope it didn't take long to get it turned back on.

It's still cold here so turning off the gas would have been a very bad thing. Dealing with an angry 1gobluedem is in no one's best interest. Just ask the idiots at AT&T.
