The Sneeze is in the hospital...Monday is the day of decision.
Edited on Sat Mar-15-08 09:42 PM by Tyler Durden

My oldest friend Sneezer is now in the hospital with his second bout of a canine middle ear nerve disorder.

It acts like a stroke, where he cocks his head to one side and has a partial paralysis. He gets dizzy and can't eat or drink. The last time bought him injections, IV, and a night in the hospital. This one is much worse, and if he doesn't break out by Monday, the Doc says it will be time to put him down.

He's had a good run at the age of 14; except for this, he had more in him. There's still hope he'll bust through this: he's strong...but we're preparing ourselves for the worst. We wanted him to have one more week at the beach this summer, his favorite place on earth, and it might still happen. We're hoping things go well.

Hang in there, my old buddy.

7. If he doesn't make it, we will spread his ashes on the beach in Canada.
Brave little guy. Rescue dog.

8. My thoughts are with Sneezer. There's still hope!
He's a cute guy. Love the second picture. :)

Try to stay in good spirits. There's always a chance that the treatment will pull through. If it doesn't, though, don't feel badly about having to make that decision. It's a hard one (I know from personal experience), but it's sometimes the more merciful option.

18. The second picture is more recent.
He's gotten very gray around the muzzle and eyes. He's also deaf now, which is a shame because he loved going nuts when you talked sweet to him. He got a little grumpy in his old age: I think that's why.

12. It's a goddamn large burden, and one that I've carried more than once, but it is your
responsibility to let your loyal and true friend go when it gets to the point that he's not enjoying life any more. He's looking up to you as he always has, and counting on you to let him go easy if it's his time to go.

Damn hard to step up to that plate, it is. I really, and I mean REALLY hope you don't have to make that decision right now, or any time soon.

But if you do have to, remember this: He'll wait on the beach as long as he has to, until you join him there. And he'll forget how long that wait was, the instant he sees you walking toward him on the sand.

16. 1/2 Corgi, 1/2 Border.
Corgi body, Border ears, tail, and fur.

When he gets REALLY HAPPY, he sneezes. Has done so since he came home from the shelter, hence the name.

17. Thanks D.
We call him "a creature of sweetness and light."

He frequently has tried to protect members of the family from what, in HIS opinion, was some kind of threat. If Sneezer had his way we would all sit quietly on the couch, taking turns petting him.
