Argggg! The battery on the van has been dead for the last four weeks.
It's not totally dead, but the engine won't turn over. I've been driving the sedan, but now it won't start. I turn the key and nothing happens except for a little bell ringing. My husband has been overseas since Christmas. He was home for a couple of days, and I have a vague recollection of him putting the charger on the van. I have the charger on the van now, but the connections on the battery are rusty so I don't know if anything is happening.

My husband is coming home Wednesday for a couple of days. How long should I wait until I demand he go out and get a new battery installed? 10 minutes? 15 minutes?

3. Do you have AAA?
They do this whole "battery service" thing now.

Bring a new one to you, install it, etc. All for the price of the battery.

5. Hmmmmmm, I do have AAA. If the car isn't charged up by the
morning, I'll call them tomorrow.

He's been assigned to an installation at a plant overseas so he's been mostly gone for about a year now. He gets home every two or two and half months for a week or so, but a lot of little things are piling up.

9. Even if the battery charges
take the car to Auto Zone and they'll test the battery. If it's not going to hold a charge, they'll replace it in the parking lot for you. I've been taking care of my own cars most of my adult life (ex-husband was never around) and sometimes you just need to solve the problem rather than prolong the agony. ;-)

Good luck. :)

6. That really stinks...

Call AAA and get yourself mobile again and get new batteries in each.

always driven used cars and he's always kept them running but he just hasn't had the time in recent months. I'm posting here mainly so I don't attack him as soon as he gets in the door!

8. There are mobile battery services.
If you have AAA, they'll come out to you and swap out your battery.
