To thank kind person who gave me information on where to find low
cost dental care. This month Puget Sound Energy in Peirce County in Washington wants $400 plus dollars before March 27th or I lose my gas and electric service and will be punished with a $75.00 reconnection fee. I've already paid $100 this month, now they want more. This is what makes me bitter about this country. A hell of a way to treat old people on social security with less than $700 a month income. No amount of low-income services will help when faced with this. Yes, I've applied for heating assistance, no response...apparently $700 a month is too high for help. This is what happens to poor people under "compassionate conservatism". I'm sick of this country

1. I feel for you.
It really does suck to be in that position.

When my children were small, my husband lost his job. He worked at part-time jobs and temporary jobs. I had just started working again, at the library, and they cut my hours due to budget issues.

We were trying to be resourceful, so we worked at whatever was available. We barely made our mortgage every month. We were able to get help from the food pantry a few times. We had help with paying the heating bill once. But most of the time, we were told that we made too much to qualify for help. Sometimes we were living on so little that I wondered if anyone actually qualified for help.

I hope the agencies are not treating you like crap. One of the worst things about being in a situation like yours is being treated like a non-person.

2. we are low-income
we did not qualify for LIHEAP even though we do receive food stamps, medicaid and WIC. I have no idea how that happened, but we had no oil and already recieved help from the Citgo program. I went to the local Salvation Army and they were able to help us out with a portion of the bill. Have you tried there?
