I was talking to my dad which I rarely get to do.
He usually hands the phone to mom. She wasn't home
this morning so he had to talk to me. He asked
who I was going to vote for now that Edwards isn't
in the race.

I told him that I've declared and am a delegate for
Obama. He started yelling at me! I mean, veins popping
out - I could nearly hear it over the phone.

Basically, he wants Hillary to win so the pukes can
beat her. Okay, this is where it gets nasty. He said
that Obama deep in his heart hates America. He said
the only bill he got passed was about the river in
the Congo.

He went on to say that if he's president, everyone
from Africa will come here and "we've got enough
of those."

All I could do was point out that Laura Bush has as
much experience as Hillary. I pointed out that nobody
is really ready for that job. I asked him what kind
of experience swayed him to vote for Georgie. He
just got madder and madder. The Greatest Generation
my ass.

1. I've noticed that I've been in parental avoidance mode for months

I know they'll vote for McCain, and I'm sure when I see them this weekend I'll hear O'Reilly and Hannity Rev. Wright talking points coming out of their mouths.

Next time you here the words, "Your mother isn't home", have a back up plan to get off the phone.

I'd be so freaked out, I can't talk to ANYONE about what's going on, especially if it's someone I'm supposed to love AND respect.
People are really going nuts about this stuff.. NOT that the issues aren't crucial, it's just awful how mad people get at each other, and for what? all that talk did was confirm stuff you probably knew.. like that some people are voting for Hillary so McCain can beat her.. ugh people are scaring me lately.
I hope I don't get this sent to another room for saying that stuff.

You know, my parents tried to make me a racist,
but it didn't work. They tried to make me Christian
and that didn't work. They tried to get me to get
married to a 35 year old guy they picked out when
I was 17 and that didn't work. I'm sure they see me as a
complete fuck up on their part.

The golden child, my sister, is voting for Hillary.
Dad's glad about that.

that totally sucks. Both my parents support Obama like me and are die hard, if more conservative, Democrats. I have in laws who are religious nut Talibornagains who love Bush, though, and it's very hard to deal with them.
