What luxury item have you always wanted?
Me? I've always wanted my own pool table. Sure, they're not that expensive - but keep in mind you need the space (a luxury in CA) and you need to buy the table.

2. Always wanted? A Ferrari.
Since I was around 9 I've lusted after them.

Realistically, though, I've also wanted a pool table for some time, and if I didn't have doggie rescue taking up parts of my house, I'd have one. No Brunswick, but a decent one to fart around with that I won't cry if my buddy spills beer on it.

I'd also really like a very nice watch. Not a Patek or anything foolish. Maybe a Rolex or a nice Omega.

However, tbh, before I bought any of those things, had I the money the one luxury item I WOULD buy is a nice piano for my mom. That's where my extra $8k would go.

3. Too cool :)
at the risk of going geek, have you ever played PGR4?

You can choose your car, Ferraris (all models) are available, and the virtual car handles just like a real Ferrari.

6. I wanted a Rolex for a while.
I was in San Francisco on a layover and strolled down Mission Street(?), just doing some window shopping.

Anyway, there were a lot of pawn shops.
One had a Rolex just like I wanted in the window.
I went in.
"How much for the Rolex in your window?"
"Twenty five."
"Wow! Twenty five dollars?"
"Uh...no...twenty five HUNDRED dollars."
"Oh."
I got over it.

49. have you seen the buchla 200e?!
*drool*

I was talking to a friend of mine last year who helps design and build them and I said that if I had an extra $30k I'd buy one. He said he wouldn't. HAHAHA! but he has the luxury of being able to make little stand-alone versions of some of the modules and screw with them however he'd like because he has access to all of the stuff.

I would also like a hurdy gurdy. I can never figure out why they're so expensive. I know they probably aren't easy to build, but the price usually seems unrealistic.

12. My "luxury" item
would certainly get lost in the scheme of things. Once upon a time, I read a magazine that had an article on this coffee table, designed by Lalique, with hand blown glass and mountain lions etched around the base of the table. I was in love. It sold for $40,000. I have never forgotten that table, and I always include it in any fantasy I have of being wealthy. Yeah, so I've got an active imagination, and all the "trappings" of wealth are just taken for granted.

48. A car that won't stall when I use the air conditioning
This is actually a tough question for me. I had a friend from college get in touch with me several years after we graduated, to "go for coffee." Turned out he had started selling Amway but didn't tell me (ambush tactic). He started his pitch by asking me what I've always wanted to have that I never could afford--supposed to make me "hungry" for more money or something. I honestly had a hard time answering him. "Fancy car?" "No, not really." "Boat, then." "Nope. Never been interested." "Big house?" "Nah..." He got really frustrated!

I haven't changed that much since that conversation, although it's been many years since. I just want financial security--money in the bank--or make that mattress these days--to pay the bills. A car that doesn't stall. Maybe a trustworthy contractor to finally finish the gutted rooms in our house that we haven't been able to afford to continue working on.

I'd like a piano, I guess (I'd also need lessons). But I don't pine for one.

53. Wow
Looking at all these answers, I can't believe how lucky I am.
I have a pool table (need a short cue to shoot straight off the side rail :))

I have an in ground pool with a jacuzzi (I would like to cover the whole thing with a shade ramada, though)

I have a relatively large house (@ 2500 sq ft - big enough for our needs, some would say too big)

I get regular massages (at a local massage school about 1 mile from my house)

I'd kinda like a boat but don't feel right about the big gas guzzling truck I'd have to buy to haul it to some environmental disaster of a man-made lake covered with too many jet skis so I doubt I'll ever get one.

The trust fund would be nice :)

I wish I had more gold - not because I'd wear it but because it is so valuable right now and I am worried about the economy.

I guess the one luxury I would want isn't an item - to be able to fly first class everywhere!

70. A house
I've spent my life between old mobile homes and low-income apartments. I've only lived in a house one time--it was during my late teens, when my Mom and stepdad were renting an old farmhouse in rural Rockingham County, Virginia. It was one of those deals where my stepfather worked on the owner's farm for 3-4 days a week, and that paid the rent for the house. It was a really old house, but it sat in the midst of an enormous piece of gorgeous property with no neighbors in sight, fields and meadows to explore, and silver maples in the front yard that were at least a hundred years old.

Someday I'd like to have a little farm like that again. Or at least a modest house that no landlord could threaten to turn us out of again.

71. A football team. Think the DeBartolos would sell?
Other than that, I'd sure like to have a muscle car. Used to be a rather accessible indulgence, but with fuel costs these days? Not so much.
