There are some people who post numerous threads in the lounge during the day (more than three) that I enjoy reading. I know some of the threads in the lounge can be annoying, but I don't read them. Simple enough.

some people think they are so funny or meaningful .. well others don't always agree and since I've been here on DU long before the Iraq invasion, I think I should get to dictate how the lounge operates. Although Skinner supplies the option to both hide a thread or ignore another person... I just don't like some threads that are posted in the lounge. Why should I have to use ignore or hide thread? (again... just that satire thing for emphasis)

Before I left here (DU in whole) for a couple of years b/c of all the meaningless fighting, although proles and blue-jay etc. were in the lounge all the time, I didn't spend time here b/c there was just too much unfunny crap posted. But that had as much to do with my frame of mind as it did with the silliness that is always here. (I mention p-b&j as in- I've met dozens and dozens of DUers... including Run-P.i.t.t. Proles and Blue-jay met at my house for the first time and recently they just celebrated their second wedding anniversary. So that surely gives me the right to sit in judgment of others, right?

Not to say that people are being considerate of one another. Or that they shouldn't consider others. And I wasn't here yesterday when all the threads exploded. And..if people ask nicely, yes, why not be gracious and tone it down. (btw, I like to use "And" to start a sentence because Vonnegut gave it his blessing, for anyone who disapproves.)

But there are people giving the "here here" (not you...) who have also irritated people beyond means with some of their stuff. And have been called out for it. But no one ever thinks s/he is annoying if someone else is annoying to him/her, right? (and I'm sure I belong right in there with everyone else.)

For the record - please - this post is not about you in any way. It's just a late remark in what I hope will be a dying flame skirmish, and it's an attempt at the general expression that "tolerance (and ignore/hide) is a virtue."

No one among us owns this forum nor may any person (other than the trinity) dictate its content, no matter how much "seniority" or "I'm funny you're not" someone claims, nor how much they think their jokes or whatevers cannot be equally annoying to others here. But yes, let us all try to be considerate and kind to one another (not that I think that will exactly happen...) because lots of people are stressed right now because of financial concerns and primary infighting and bad weather and all the rumblings about Iran...and just the stress of living in BushWorld for all these loong loong years.

And obviously no one has to pay attention to this post either. If you don't, whoever you are, I don't care. I just needed to say this because the level of self-congrats is sort of amazing.
