I must not be a good conversationalist either, especially with young folks. I guess because I am so effing old, so please bear with me.
I was a senior in High School in Orlando when I saw JFK on black and white TV when he gave his inaugural speech and said to all of us “Ask not what….” And as a teenager I remember thinking “This guy is really cool”
I remember that same year watching from Edgewater High’s east campus the vapor trail of Alan Shepard’s space craft rise up from Cape Canaveral.
I saw on TV Jon-Jon salute his daddy’s caisson when it rolled by. It was like someone in the family had died. By then everybody felt like JFK’s death was a family loss.I was 20 then.
I saw MLK give his famous “I have a Dream” speech when he gave it. I saw a thousand tear stained faces when they buried their beloved Martin.
I saw Rosy Grier take down Sir-Han Sir-Han after he had just shot RFK.
I’ll be 65 in a week or so, I was married 45 years last month. Sometimes it seems like I’ve done and seen everything.
I have enjoyed reading your posts and the responses. I’ve tried to join in but like I say, I’m not too good a conversationalist so please don’t be offended. You may ask me anything, but I might not remember.ha
