TV and the censorship thereof is so fucked up.
I'm clicking through, and American History X is on. Great flick. Love that flick.

So anyway, they've cut out the usual suspects: shit, fuck, etc.

But, in the last 2 minutes they cut the word "hell" twice but left the ni**er word in a number of times. "Hell"? Like what the hell is censored, but calling someone a ni**er is okay. Whatever.

WTF? If it's for effect, okay I guess. The movie is about douchebag racism and hate. I just doubt it. I'm actually kind of pissed about it.

1. My dear flvegan!
I think the broadcast censorship is ridiculous...

Maybe they should have a 2 or 3 hour time slot in the evening when the kids might be watching...

But all the cable channels have no censorship on their language anytime!

WTF?

Crazyness abounds...

2. Most censorship is stupid.
But TV censorship is government sponsored stupidity. So it's stupid with an extra dash of stupid on top.

4. Considering that the movie opens with Ed Norton a**f***in Fairuza Bailuk (sp?)
I can't imagine they could sanitize that film for broadcast TV at all.

5. They do that on the radio.
Censor out the most mild profanities and even indirect references to things that could be profane- ones that used to be permitted- and yet leave in songs with really sexist themes, no problem. So I sit there scratching my head "okay, it's okay to have a whole song about fucking an underaged hooker in a bathroom stall, but a metaphorical dick reference isn't allowable. :wtf: "
