If the Borg are so damn intellegent after assimilating so many
different cultures then why are their starships cubes???

Everyone knows that a sphere contains the greatest volume inside the smallest surface area ... much more economical and more efficient use of construction materials.

1. It's used as a test to determine who has not yet been assimilated.
Anyone asking what you just did would immediately be identified for assimilation. Congrats! You just made their list.

3. Nope. All I know is that The Borg are a Star Trek thing (at least I think so).

They seem to like geometry.

The cube

The sphere

The queen's diamond

And the coffin shaped probe

11. The coffin???
This is probably the Borg ship that all the ST-TOS red shirts (you know ... the dispensible crew members; the ones who inevitably get killed whenever they are assigned to a landing party) who have been assimilated get assigned to.

5. True - and if they had used a sphere, geeks could speculate that
they had assimilated the Empire and their Death Star technology.

6. Because non-spherical shapes can store more things efficiently ...
stack 27 squares and 27 spheres in a 3x3x3 arrangement - which one is more efficient?

Hah! I'm not even a borg (as far as you know).

9. Aw, come on ... you know as well as I do that your statement
depends on the size of the object. If the container is measured in feet or meters then you would be right ... the curvature of a sphere would be pronounced. But if the container is measured in miles or kilometers then the curvature would barely be noticeable.

PS: You, meegbear, will NOT be assimilated.

14. Have you ever tried hanging a painting inside a sphere?

Cubes are so much easier to decorate!
