10. I think 8 'copy cat' posts in a row, with the same altered title is not funny
and pretty lame. :hi: One is sort of funny but 8 in a row is lame, in my book.

7. I think 1-3 copycats are fine
As long as they are creative and funny.(I have been guilty of some pretty lame ones) :hide:
Any more then that can be sort of annoying.

8. It depends on the original
If it's a serious post asking for help/sympathy or just serious ruminations about life, then no; copycat threads are in poor taste, IMO. One of the first basic rules about communication is that you reply in the same method and spirit as the original. That creates understanding and good will. Someone who is hurting or wanting legitimate info will take it as a slap. And why be an intentional prick about it? I've been on the 'net for 20 years, and that attitude has never sat well with me. It never will.

If the original post is funny or and not serious, one or two copy cats are fine and sorta funny. Very few people can do it well and unfortunately many more people try it than have a knack for it. Endless copycats get very old very fast, especially if the OP has fallen off the front page and people are still making fun of it.

12. I do! Some of them are really witty, IMO.
My only problem is that sometimes I can't tell if it is a copycat until I happen upon the OP. But I only pop in here once or twice a day, so I miss a lot.

13. actually as someone pointed out
Copycatting within a copycat thread is actually better and more fun. It doesn't clog it up and if its already a copycat, then probably only those who enjoy it are going to be clicking on it anyway.
Plus you can see all responses easier.

18. I agree, several in a row all ripping off the same thing, gets old
REALLY fast. Occasionally, there are some clever ones, but I could do without them most of the time.

Or when a person, or sometimes several people (the old pack mentality), uses a copycat as an opportunity to be cruel or hateful.
