Thats always been one of those things I wanted to do before I die.

One of these years I will take a summer off and do that.

1. oh i want to do this sooo badly!
i found a book called "Traveling the Alaska Highway" which seems to cover it all. also there is a National Geographic from about 15 years back which has a story about traveling that highway --very interesting. Also, apparently they've improved the highway a lot since then, not so scary now.

it seemed to me that the thing had gotten washed out and they were replacing it as we went but it was still an excellent adventure -- an improved highway is probably great but it will also mean more traffic so there's good and bad to having better roads

if you bring only one item, bring DEET

4. yup sure have
it's teh aweshome!!!

be sure if you go in spring to plan on an extra day at Laird Hot Springs PP in BC

At Laird River Hot springs Provincial Park, north of the 56th parallel, is a tropical oasis that the Indians called Paradise Valley. The water in the natural pool is 43° C. The flowers are jungle blooms - monkey flower, ostrich fern, lobelia and orchid.

It's really an amazing place and the BC provincial parks the are the BEST!! but there are long stretches with no services so always have food and water in the car and plan your fuel stops carefully
