I have a sibling who could use a little financial help right now, and I am in a position, for once, where I can help him out. Problem is he is very proud, and I don't want to offend him....how can I offer this money to him ( not a loan a gift, unless he insists otherwise) with out hurting his ego?

Give your friend the cash.

Have your friend approach him, slap it in his hand, and have your friend say "this is something from a friend that loves you".

Then have your friend get the heck out of there.

I've done this before to a couple down the road when their house burned. I did it myself, because they didn't know me.

I knocked on the guy's door, slapped a $100 bill in his hand while saying "this is for you", and walked away quickly. I didn't want him to know me, I just wanted to help him out.

I went the upfront approach and sent him an email.....he very graciously excepted with the condition that it was a modest amount....it feels good to help out.
