If you could do something like Taxact, I'd recommend them instead.

I used them last year and this year without the slightest problem, and each time I got my refund in about 12 days.

3. Saw a funny sign in front yard of a local CPA:
"Don't be a BLOCKhead. Let us do your taxes." Why not use TaxAct online? Fed is free. They only charge for state. Cheap and esay.

4. Mine is way too complicated
I wouldn't trust myself to do it online.

Miz t. has a tiny inherited interest in an oil and gas well. Royalties, depletion allowance, etc. Pretty complicated. They dealt with it.

5. Depends on your return
if you have a simple return it is easier to use a software package. If your return is itemized or you have other things that make it complicated pay a CPA. They do not cost much more than tax service but are generally more competent. My experience.

8. If its really complicated, I would suggest a CPA....
because HR Block is hiring seasonal workers with minimal training, who are following a software script. If it is involved you need a pro.

9. They charge way too much...
I'm in the business and I charge about $ 50 - $ 100 for most simple Fed State and Local tax packages... H&R charges anywhere from 150 - 300 for the same service...
